A saudi woman surprised her marriage guests by setting her 'mahr' to husband by sponsoring 30 orphans (or lifetime) of Makkah area - it costs a sum of 1,200 Saudi Riyals per orphan per year.

Shaikh Saeed Al Qarni who presided the marriage praised her offer and requested every women in the country to take such great examples.

'Mahar' is a dowry system in Islam given by the Groom to the Bride while getting married. It is considered better to pay the 'Mahr' to the bride at the time of Nikah itself. Most of the people pay, but few agrees to pay during their life time.
